Pinhead himself, Doug Bradley, thinks there’s a way to reprise his iconic Hellraiser role with an adaptation of another Clive Barker book.
A Swansong for Pinhead?
Speaking in an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Bradley says he’s keen on the idea of playing pinhead again, and to better reflect his age, he’d choose Clive Barker’s 2015 novel The Scarlet Gospels.
“If we did that, we could maybe present an older Pinhead to be aware of the fact that I am the age I am, that time and gravity does what time and gravity does” said Bradley. ”An older, darker Pinhead would intrigue me, one not so much in love with the flippant one-liners and the witty comebacks and so forth.”
in the story of The Scarlet Gospels, Harry D’Amour travels to the Underworld to battle with Pinhead as he attempts to take over the top job in Hell. It’s the closing chapter in Pinhead’s story, which Bradley says would be “the perfect bookend to my life in latex, if I can put it that way.”
Hellraiser was rebooted not so long ago, with Jamie Clayton taking on the role in David Bruckner’s movie. Bradley enjoyed Clayton’s portrayal of the character, but has a never-say-never attitude about having another crack at it himself, with that epitaph for Pinhead being the dream option.
There haven’t been any rumblings of a follow-up to Bruckner’s Hellraiser, so perhaps there’s a possibility of Bradley getting to don the BDSM from Hell garb one more time.
