In a recent breakdown of what the future may hold for Warner Bros., Variety’s Adam B. Vary and Brent Lang note that as of now, only one DC movie has currently been greenlit following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery — Joker: Folie à Deux, Todd Phillips’ upcoming sequel to his Joker film starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. However, just because only one film has been greenlit doesn’t mean more won’t.
The report goes on to mention that Matt Reeves, following his recent overall deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, is continuing to work on the sequel to the 2022 hit film The Batman, with the expectation that it will be greenlit when the time comes.
Elsewhere for the company, The Batman spin-off centered around Colin Farrell’s the Penguin character is also still being developed, as is the second season of James Gunn’s Peacemaker. The report mentions that the future of animated series like Harley Quinn and live-action shows like Titans and Doom Patrol are still unclear.
