The title for the Dave Filoni Star Wars movie has reportedly been revealed, and it may be familiar to longtime series fans.
What is the Dave Filoni Star Wars movie’s title?
According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film will be called Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. The tweet also states that Jon Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, is only producing at this time, making Filoni the full director on the movie.
The title of Heir to the Empire refers to Timothy Zahn’s 1991 book of the same name. The novel, which served as the first installment in the “Thrawn Trilogy” alongside Dark Force Rising and The Last Command, introduced the fan favorite antagonist Grand Admiral Thrawn to the Star Wars universe. The Thrawn Trilogy has become one of the most popular parts of the former Star Wars Expanded Universe — now known as Star Wars Legends.
Quite a few Star Wars projects are currently on the horizon, including the Disney+ series Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and Skeleton Crew. On the gaming side, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was recently released, while Star Wars: Hunters, Star Wars: Eclipse, and a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic are all on the horizon.
