Black Adam is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, and if box office tracking is accurate, it’ll also be one of the most successful films in Dwayne Johnson’s acting career.

According to The Hollywood Reporter in a recent report, the upcoming comic book film is projected to make between $70 million to $75 million during the October 21-23 weekend. Those figures could be higher as well, as sources close to The Hollywood Reporter note that tracking surveys show that Black Adam is in a similar range to Venom, which debuted to $80 million in its opening weekend.
Should this number hold, it would mark the biggest box office opening of Johnson’s career — outside of the main Fast & Furious films in which he appeared. For Johnson’s part, the actor has been doing a ton of marketing for the film, appearing at the first game of the 2022 NFL regular season to debut a trailer, stopping by San Diego Comic-Con to talk about the movie, and more. For his efforts, it seems as if the film will have quite a strong debut.
“Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world,” says the synopsis.
