On Monday night, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson returned to the Met Gala, but they were not together. Last year, Kardashian walked the red carpet with the former Saturday Night Live cast member, but their relationship fizzled out a few months later. Some pics of them chatting along with Usher at this year’s event had fans wondering what they could still be talking about.
They look friendly from the outside, with Davidson smiling down at his former girlfriend. A source told ET that after they crossed paths at the Gala, they chatted and it was “totally fine.”
Davidson was reportedly “a gentleman” and he “complimented her look and style, which she appreciated.”
The insider continued, “They both really respect each other and there are zero hard feelings…He knows Kim was looking to have fun when they dated, and he was totally fine with it. He also enjoyed their time together.”
The source added that Davidson thinks his former flame is “a great person” but “their relationship got to be a little too much for him with the Kanye [West] drama and so much press since he is a chill, low-key guy.”
Throughout her time with Davidson, Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West was openly trying to woo back his wife, and was extremely antagonistic towards the comedian, even threatening him on social media and in his music. He and Kardashian share four children, North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 3. The rapper has now married Bianca Censori, who he has worked on numerous creative projects with over the last few years.
The source added that Kardashian’s time with Davidson was good for her, adding that “it was great for Kim to date someone like Pete after getting out of her relationship with Kanye. It was exactly what she needed at the time. Their chemistry was amazing, he was sweet, and he made her laugh.”
About Censori, the source said Kardashian is “happy for Kanye and thinks it’s good that he moved on and that someone can care for him.”
They continued, “She doesn’t know his wife super well, but as long as she is a good person and he is happy, Kim is happy and thinks that it is great.”
As for her own dating life currently, the source said, “Kim has been so laid-back about dating, and she is more and more comfortable being single. She is in no rush to meet someone and likes working, being with her kids, and doing her own thing….She is open to dating someone who isn’t famous but realizes it could be tough for a guy if he isn’t used to that… Everyone wants to set her up, but she thinks it will happen organically.”
