Rita Ora is starting spring off early, wearing white platform UGG slides while out and about in Los Angeles. The 32-year-old “You Only Love Me” singer rocked all of the classics: a white cotton crop top, low-rise boyfriend jeans, a leather jacket, and a black Miu Miu bag, accessorized with sunglasses and a chunky silver chain choker around her neck. But her UGG Aww Yeah sandals were what stood out — and though February may be the coldest month of the year, she’s clearly not letting a midwinter chill ruin her vibe, proving that winter whites refer to more than just cozy sweaters and scarves. In fact, on a mild morning in LA, it can be completely comfortable to slip your pedicured toes into open-toe shoes.
Ora’s look is polarizing for more than just her seasonal choice, however. The early-aughts introduction of UGG as the “ugly shoe,” by way of the brand’s iconic slip-on shearling bootie, has long since been a topic of debate. Either beloved or loathed by many, UGG has expanded its repertoire with the recent resurgence of trends from the 2000s, like Juicy Couture tracksuits, ruched crop tops, and more. Ora is clearly an UGG fan, because she posted a photo of the street style image on her Instagram Stories, writing “Ugg” with a white heart.
Ora is having quite the moment in the spotlight lately, planning for the release of new music, as well as confirming her summer marriage to Taika Waititi. She performed at a pre-Grammys party last week in a totally naked dress and appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” while wearing a Barbiecore lingerie-inspired look from Versace that was reminiscent of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” costume. While this recent errand outfit is decidedly more subdued, she still found a way to show a little skin, by way of her slashed tee and low waistband.
Ahead, check out her throwback footwear, and pick up the exact pair for yourself if you, too, are team UGG.
