Orlando Bloom marked his fiancée Katy Perry’s 38th birthday yesterday with a rare but doting Instagram tribute—that Perry responded to publicly.
Altogether, the exchange offered an intimate look into the dynamic the two have. Perry and Bloom have kept the majority of their six-year on-off relationship private, and have been engaged since February 2019. They share daughter Daisy, born in August 2020, together.
Bloom kept his caption short and very sweet, writing to Perry, “Each time we take a trip around the sun and get to celebrate you, I’m reminded that on this journey together and whatever the weather I’m always smiling 🎂❤️🎉” He shared a selfie of the two with it.
Perry commented to Bloom, “love you to Pluto and back.”
In February this year, Perry explained why she and Bloom haven’t had a wedding just yet on Australia’s Kyle & Jackie O radio show. Blame it on the COVID location getting in the way of their destination wedding: “It’s a destination location,” she said, via JustJared. “We’re still trying for it to work out.”
“Every couple of months it’s like, ‘New variant! New variant! New variant!’” she added. The outlet noted that the two wanted to get married in Japan, which just started allowing U.S. tourists to visit again on Oct. 11, 2022.
Perry also spoke warmly about Bloom last September during her speech at Variety’s Power of Women event. “To my beloved partner and constant iron sharpener, whether I like it or not, Orlando, a man that is a friend and an ally to all around the world, thank you for handling the insanity of my life with such loving grace,” she told him. “And biggest thank you of all for being an incredible father, an example to our greatest gift ever, our daughter, Daisy Dove.”
