There are some luxury makeup products that just exude elegance. From the viral Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette to pretty much any item from Hermès Beauty, there is a handful of products that you know you’ll always find in the most stylish of people’s makeup bags. One brand that is particularly chic is Celine.
If you’ve read our roundup of the most luxurious beauty products in the world, then you’ll know that Celine Beauté was created by Hedi Slimane in 2023. It is the first cosmetics line in the fashion house’s history, and the very first product launched last September. This product came in the form of an uber-chic red lipstick which was embossed with the Maison’s monogram logo, and you can already guess that every stylish French woman has given this a go.
I fell in love with the long-wearing, lightweight, buttery formula, and the satin-like finish always earns me so many compliments. That being said, because of the bold red hue, I only tend to reach for this lipstick on special occasions. So, you can imagine my delight when I heard that Celine Beauté was launching 14 new shades, including the chicest nude option. Of course, it was only right that I put these new lipsticks to the test.
Celine Le Rouge Celine Lipstick Review
The Formula
As mentioned above, these lipsticks have a long-wearing yet lightweight formula. As a beauty editor, I’ve tried a lot of lip products in my time, but these are definitely some of the best. When you first apply them, you will be met with impressive colour pay off. A little goes a long way, especially when it comes to the more statement shades.
Although they feel like any other lipstick at first, as the day goes on you will notice just how soft and buttery this formula is. The product actually includes 89% of ingredients from natural origins, such as oils and squalane for a hydrating finish. I have very dry lips and struggle to find a lipstick that works for me, but this product doesn’t cling to any dry patches and instead gives a smooth, satin-like appearance. Yes, I do have to apply a little bit of lip balm throughout the day before topping up my lipstick, but this isn’t anything out of the ordinary for me.
One thing I really love about this formula is that it is delicately scented with a rose accord and rice powder. To me, this makes the whole experience of applying my lipstick feel even more luxurious.

The Shades
There are 14 shades to choose from within the collection, ranging from bold reds to a deep burgundy and classic nude hues. As someone who prefers a “no-makeup” makeup look, I was really excited to give the more subtle shades a go. After testing them out, my personal favourite was “La Peau Nue”, a timeless, pinky-nude lipstick that I know I will be reaching for on a daily basis.
Another shade I loved was “Rose Athenais”. This is more of a statement pink shade, and although I wouldn’t usually reach for this kind of colour, I tried it on before going out for dinner and all of my friends ended up asking me what lipstick I was wearing.

The Packaging
Now, I couldn’t talk about this lipstick without mentioning the packaging. Each product comes housed in a white Celine box, and inside you’ll find a black velvet sleeve embossed with the fashion house’s iconic logo. The lipstick itself has been designed as an extension of the Celine perfume bottle, with a faceted gold metal case. The entire design looks completely timeless, and is luxurious from start to finish.
The best bit is that this product is also refillable. Yes, you can keep the Celine lipstick case for years to come, and refill it with one of the 14 shades on offer.
The Verdict
All in all, I couldn’t be more excited that Celine have extended the Le Rouge lipstick collection. At £62, this product is an investment, but if you are thinking of treating yourself, I truly believe that it is worth every penny. Not only is it the ultimate fashion accessory for the season ahead, but the timeless design will last you forever thanks to the refillable format. With lots of different shades on offer, I have no doubt that we will be spotting this makeup product hiding in the handbags of the chicest people around. My only wish? I’d love to see further extension to the nude shade offering—please and thank you, Celine.
