On Friday, Britney Spears sang for her Instagram followers, bringing back a classic with a modern twist. She chose her 1998 iconic hit “…Baby One More Time,” but made it fit the tone of 2022.
“This is me yesterday doing laundry and separating clothes,” she wrote in the caption. “I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time… maybe too long… and here’s me playing at my house with a different version of ‘Baby.’”

The new version still showcases Spears’ impressive pipes, but it is definitely a darker interpretation of the pop chart topper. She explained in the caption that she has been wanting to share an updated version of the song for some time, but was unable to make any career decisions while under her conservatorship.
“Well I have asked for what I wanted for 14 years… a different version of ‘Baby ’ but have the producers actually work for me and put it together… a start… but as the TEAM said NO and serves me with 4 girls, my sister included, doing a 5 minute version of 4 remixed songs to a T not even having to give effort or dance… just shot it beautifully and the sound was NEW!!! They ruined it for me, embarrassed me and made me feel like absolutely nothing!!! The truth is a f— b—!!!” Spears wrote.
The conservatorship ended in November of 2021, and since then a lot has changed for Spears. She has been much more open with her real feelings online, she’s been traveling and enjoying life, and she has married her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari.
When it initially ended, a source told People that the singer was “talking a lot about her career” and that she “loves creating music and wants to give her fans a new album. It seems like she is focusing on one thing at a time.”
With this post, fans can see what they might expect from a new album when Spears gets into the studio again.
