Apparel retailer Uniqlo is opening two new stores on Long Island.
The global chain will open an 8,780-square-foot store at Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station and a 9,700-square-foot store at the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream on Friday, Oct. 20.
These will be the second and third Long Island locations for Uniqlo, which has a store at Roosevelt Field in Garden City.
“We are incredibly excited to open two new stores in Long Island and expand our presence in New York, a place we have called home since 2006,” Uniqlo USA CEO Yoshihide Shindo said in a company statement. “Our aim is to help make everyday life better through high-quality, essential clothing that is designed for anyone, anywhere, and we look forward to serving even more of the Long Island community at Walt Whitman Shops and Green Acres on October 20.”
To celebrate the new stores, Uniqlo will offer special promotions and giveaways from Friday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Oct. 22. There will also be live performances of Japanese taiko drumming at the Oct. 20 ribbon cuttings, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Walt Whitman Shops and 10:30 a.m. at Green Acres.
Employees at both new Uniqlo stores teams will also be volunteering at The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network), a Hempstead-based network of food kitchens, emergency shelters, and long-term housing. Throughout the month of November, Uniqlo staff will be helping out at one of the local soup kitchens, preparing and baking holiday pastries for guests of The INN.
Uniqlo is a brand of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based retail holding company with 2022 fiscal year sales revenue of $16.6 billion. Uniqlo has more than 50 stores in the U.S. and more than 2,400 stores across the world, including Japan, Asia, Europe and North America, according to the company.
