The Advance Group, a Farmingdale-based moving, warehousing and logistics company has acquired Sorensen Moving & Storage and Sorensen Logistics, which operate out of Orlando and Melbourne, Fla.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1956, family-owned Sorenson is an agent of Mayflower Van Lines. The company occupies more than 200,000 square feet of facilities in Florida.
The combination of Advance’s household moving brand Molloy Moving & Storage coupled with Sorensen Moving & Storage’s capacity will result in one of Mayflower Transit’s largest agents and interstate fleets in the van line, according to a company statement.
“The synergy between the two companies excelling at residential moving, commercial moving, logistics, warehousing, technology services, FF&E and delivery + installation is going to create an absolute powerhouse from the northeast through the southeast corridor,” Anthony Parziale, CEO of The Advance Group, said in the statement. The combined organization significantly increases resources into their shared partnership in OMA (Office Moving Alliance) and Mayflower Transit, which will further increase both brands’ national and global presence. But the most exciting thing to me, is that Sorensen’s employees are hardworking all-stars, and their company culture mirrors exactly what we have worked so hard to achieve here at TAG.”
As part of the acquisition, Scott Sorensen will remain as a consultant to the executive team at The Advance Group. Chris Sorensen will remain president of the Sorensen brand with a focus on continued growth and strategic relationships.
“Having the opportunity to lead and grow the Sorensen team for the past 47 years has been one of my life’s greatest joys and accomplishments. I am extremely proud of the team we have, and the organization we have become over the years,” Scott Sorenson, CEO of Sorensen Moving & Storage, said in the statement. “I am also excited to have the opportunity to step away and allow the next generation of leaders to run the company. Under the guidance of Anthony Parziale, and the entire leadership team at The Advance Group and Sorensen, I know that our team is in great hands and will achieve tremendous success in the future. Finding a strategic buyer that matched our culture, values and was willing to continue to cultivate what we have built was extremely important to me. The more we explored this opportunity, the more it was apparent that The Advance Group was the perfect fit for us.”
Besides its Farmingdale headquarters, The Advance Group, which services the New York metropolitan area, has locations in Manhattan, Queens and Harrison, N.J.
