Ronkonkoma-based Options for Community Living was one of 37 nonprofits nationwide to be awarded a housing grant from TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank.
Options for Community Living received $150,000 in TD’s annual Housing for Everyone grant program, part of $7 million awarded to 37 nonprofits in 15 states and Washington D.C.
The grants, ranging from $150,000 to $250,000, are aimed at supporting organizations that work to deliver rental assistance, rehabilitate affordable rental housing properties, and build organizational capacity to address resident sustainability for the long-term, according to a foundation statement.
“The affordable housing crisis continues to burden the most vulnerable members of our communities and the organizations committed to supporting them,” Paige Carlson-Heim, director of the TD Charitable Foundation, said in the statement. “At TD, we’re committed to doing our part to help create a more sustainable and inclusive future for everyone, and that includes providing access to safe, affordable homes. This year’s grant recipients are mission-critical to that work, and the TD Charitable Foundation is proud to support them in their efforts to create a positive impact and a pathway to housing stability in the communities we serve.”
Options for Community Living opened its first community residence in 1984 and now provides a continuum of supportive housing opportunities for people recovering from mental illness. Options serves over 2,400 adults and children annually and manages more than 160 residential properties scattered across Long Island.
Since its inception in 2005, the Housing for Everyone grant program has awarded more than $49 million to nonprofit organizations and helped support more than 550 affordable housing initiatives in the communities TD serves.
