In a new partnership, Suffolk County Water Authority and Minority Millennials, which focuses on workforce development, aim to build a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce.
The two organizations to increase awareness of career opportunities among underrepresented job seekers in the water industry.
“SCWA’s partnership with Minority Millennials is a critical and timely one,” said Janice Tinsley James, Deputy CEO for Customer Service, Suffolk County Water Authority. “It positions us to continue our commitment to ensure our workplace culture is inclusive to individuals from all walks of life who can thrive and grow in many areas. To fulfill that promise, we must continue developing an environment that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
SCWA and Minority Millennials said they would seek to recruit diverse staff at all levels through a targeted and interactive digital marketing campaign.
“In their own words, SCWA is ‘a company on the move,’” said Dan Lloyd, founder and president of Minority Millenials, adding that the nonprofit is “honored to be a part” of the water authority’s “journey.”
He added that “much too often, DEI initiatives within corporations fall short of their promise, due to a lack of measurable action. This is a shining example of what real action looks and feels like.”
Minority Millennials plans to highlight SCWA’s job openings to the broad community the corporation serves, alongside elevating its values and the many avenues through which employees who are Black and Indigenous people of color can within its industry.
