Tony-winner Marcia Gay Harden will be honored at the ninth annual North Fork TV Festival. A formal ceremony is set for Wednesday, Aug. 28, the second day of the festival, at The Halyard at Sound View Greenport in Greenport.
Harden will receive the festival’s Canopy Award, the organization’s top award.
“We are absolutely thrilled to present the Canopy Award to the immensely talented Academy Award-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden,” Noah Doyle, founder of the North Fork TV Festival, said in a news release about this year’s festival.
“Her extraordinary contributions to the world of film and television embody the spirit of excellence we celebrate at the North Fork TV Festival,” Doyle said. “We couldn’t be more excited to honor her achievements and welcome her to our festival this year.”
Each year, the award honors a member of the New York television community. Winners are selected for “persistence and integrity, bound by the twin spirits of independence and collaboration,” which “stoke the creative ambitions of diverse people who have important stories to tell,” according to a news release about the 2024 festival.
The award’s ceremony will feature a conversation between Harden and Jennifer Maas, Variety’s senior business who covers TV and video games. An audience question-and-answer session is slated to follow.
The two-day festival will feature special screenings and in-depth panels including “How do you cast a TV Series” with casting director Jessica Daniels, moderated by actor Max Jenkins.
In previous years, the festival welcomed noted actors Kelsey Grammer, Bridget Moynahan, Aida Tuturro, Carrie Preston, Constance Wu and others.
