The East End is home to a new restaurant. Montauk Project, located at 240 Fort Pond Road in Montauk, is a 6,200 square-foot-space with indoor and outdoor dining as well as lounge seating.
Co-owners Bryan Seekamp and Sam Berkson have renovated and redesigned the space that was once home to Roberta’s. It features live music and a menu filled with offerings that include a raw bar, artisan pizzas and American dishes, comprising local ingredients. There’s a cocktail menu and also a late-night menu.
“‘Project’ implies that we are not a static entity but an evolving and innovative venture,” Berkson said in a news release about the restaurant’s opening. “It suggests that we are constantly working on new ideas, and experiences including local artists, musicians, and dishes creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere.”
Leading the kitchen is Jesse Freijo, a chef whose ventures include Cru Nantucket Oyster Bar and working for Daniel Boulud. Freijo’s culinary experience began while working for his father’s restaurant in upstate New York.
A native of East Hampton, Seekamp grew up working for his family businesses that include Brent’s General Store and the Beach Hut. He went on to launch his own security firm, serving clients in Aspen, New York City, West Palm Beach and the Hamptons.
Berkson has a background in hospitality, including serving as general manager of Gold Bar New York City.
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
