A pro bono legal in-person clinic for artists and organizations is taking place through the Huntington Arts Council (HAC) on April 25 at The Agency, at 299 Main Street in Huntington, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are required.
For this clinic, the HAC is collaborating with the New York State Bar Association’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law and Intellectual Property Sections and coordinating attorneys Elissa Hecker, Debra Resnick and Rosemarie Tully.
The clinic offers 30-minute confidential, individual consultations with arts and entertainment attorneys. These attorneys can discuss legal issues about entertainment, intellectual property such as copyright and trademarks, licensing and corporation/incorporation as well as collaboration agreements, organizational and corporate policies and other issues.
Appointment slots are limited and will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who meet income qualifications, by registration only. Those who qualify must be available in person on the day of the clinic.
To qualify, the adjusted gross income for an individual must be $65,250, or $130,500 for those filing jointly, or less on the last tax return; this amount is listed on the 1040 form, line 11. Organizations must have an operations budget of less than $400,000.
Additional information about the clinic and registration is available here.
