A New York-based health system has acquired a pediatric urology practice.
NYU Langone has acquired Pediatric Urology Associates, with offices in Lake Success and Commack.
With the acquisition, NYU Langone now has pediatric urology offices in 10 locations. Besides Long Island, it also has offices in New Jersey, Connecticut and Brooklyn as well as the lower Hudson Valley.
“We’re continually expanding our network to better meet our patients’ needs,” Andrew Rubin, senior vice president for clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone Health, said in a written statement. “Whether we’re adding new services or specialty care, or opening new practices, our goal is to make it easier for patients to access integrated, comprehensive, patient-centered care in the communities we serve.”
Lawrence Epstein, chief executive officer of Pediatric Urology Associates, said that the transition “opens the doors for patients and their families to receive world-class care right in their neighborhood and for physicians and staff to broaden their pediatric practice.”
Dr. Jordan Gitlan is a physician with Pediatric Urology Associates for two decades, and is already affiliated with NYU Langone—Long Island. He serves as the section chief of pediatric urology for the campus and is an associate professor at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine.
“Many pediatric urology cases require collaboration with other pediatric sub-specialties, including nephrology, endocrinology, pediatric surgery, anesthesiology, and radiology,” Gitlin said. “Now that we’re integrated, if I send a patient for an X-ray, the technician and radiologist have easier access to all the information about the case thanks to Epic, NYU Langone’s electronic medical record. That enhances patient care.”
The NYU Langone Pediatric Urology Associates care team includes nine physicians whose expertise includes evaluation and treatment of illness or disease of the genitals and urinary tract, such as kidney stones, bladder function and hypospadias. Services also include surgical interventions for circumcision, UDT, urodynamics and more.
