An environmental firm is hosting a fundraiser to support service dogs for veterans.
Veolia North America, which oversees Nassau County’s wastewater treatment facilities, is launching the inaugural United Veterans Network Fundraiser on Aug. 25, at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh from 6-10 p.m.
Proceeds from the benefit will go to America’s VetDogs, a Long Island-based 501(c)(3) that helps pair veterans with service dogs.
As LIBN reported in March, Veolia merged with Suez North America earlier this year.
“With Long Island hosting one of the largest veterans’ populations in the nation, our support of this program reaches an important and vital part of the community,” Kevin Chandler, vice president of Veolia’s Long Island operations and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, said in a statement.
“It is truly an honor to support such an important organization, and to be able to help improve the lives of those who have served,” Chandler added.
Veolia and America’s VetDogs aim to make a “significant positive impact on the veterans’ community across the bi-county region,” the firm said in statement.
“Through their innovative programs, America’s VetDogs has consistently touched the lives of countless veterans. Our company proudly stands with them and all those seeking to improve the quality of life of those who have worn the uniform,” Chandler said.
