A beloved French restaurant, Le Soir, in Bayport, closed for business on Nov. 29. But the spot at 825 Montauk Highway will soon be home to Sunflower Café & Bakery, which, according to its website “draws inspiration” from the “French countryside,” according to its website.
The new eatery will open its doors on Dec. 12 for lunch and dinner brunch on Sundays, according to a recorded message. In January, it will also serve breakfast.
In addition to the flaky croissants, fresh pressed juices and coffees, Sunflower Café & Bakery pledges on its website to support local purveyors, farms and fishermen, with a focus on all natural and sustainable products.
Lunch offerings include quiches, salads and sandwiches, including a warm lobster roll and a bean burger. Dinner items include starters such as Blue Point oysters and goat cheese with pineapple chutney and warm pita; main course selections include roast duck, farm-raised herb de Provence chicken, poached halibut and more. Desserts include meringue, fruit tarts, plum tart, carrot cake and other palate pleasers.
There’s no liquor license yet, but for those who bring wine, there is a $20 corking fee.
