NY Axe, a chain of axe-throwing ranges, will be opening a location at the Samanea New York mall in Westbury.
The company leased a 4,023-square-foot space on the mall’s second floor where it’s expected to open this fall.
The new Westbury location will be the fourth on Long Island for NY Axe, which has axe-throwing ranges in Huntington, Farmingdale and Selden. The company also has a New York City location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
NY Axe employs trained coaches who teach guests how to safely use the axes, both handling and throwing, to digitally projected targets. The ranges offer individual lanes, private rooms, league play, as well as private celebrations for birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, corporate events, and fundraisers. The minimum age to participate is 10 with adult supervision.
“NY Axe is a Long Island based business. We are growing quickly as people experience the exhilaration of axe throwing and continue to join us for a fun time out,” Carl Mazza and Mario Simone, owners of NY Axe, said in a written statement. “We selected Samanea New York as our next location to broaden our customer base in Nassau County. It is an ideally centralized location that attracts customers from the North and South Shores, and we cannot wait to open our doors to the neighborhood.”
Matthew Kucker, Jordan Baruch and Herbert Agin of Colliers represented the tenant, and along with Dominic Collucio, Samanea’s director of real estate, also represented the mall’s ownership in the lease transaction.
“We are thrilled to welcome NY Axe to Samanea NY,” Coluccio said in the statement. “Over the past few years, we have set out to make Samanea NY a unique lifestyle destination on Long Island, offering the community a variety of options to entertain, dine, and shop. NY Axe will join us during a very exciting time, when many of our new entertainment tenants are opening their doors. Guests, on any given day, will be able to choose from Empire Adventure Park, The Gravity Vault: Indoor Rock-Climbing Gym, X-Golf, Pickleball Smash-It, Smash-It Therapy, Ryco’s Escape Room, Double Tap Laser Range, and Let’s Craft.”
