Farmingdale-based Adventureland has announced a multi-year $10 million development plan and a new partnership with Catholic Health.
The amusement park’s five-phase plan is one of the biggest in the park’s 62-year history, since 2015, when it installed “Turbulence,” a $5 million ride, according to Adventureland.
“We saw an opportunity to improve and enhance the guest experience,” Caitlin DiSclafani, the park manager of Adventureland, said in a news release.
“These investments add value to the park and to the guests’ experience,” DiSclafani added. “We’re excited to leave a lasting legacy in the park for generations to come.”
This year, visitors to the park can expect two new rides: “Jr. Pirate Ship” and “Moon Chaser.” In spring of 2025, the park expects to add “Wave Twister,” a custom-made ride. Then, in the next three phases, the park anticipates adding at least two more rides. These will be the first new rides since 2023, when “Fireball,” a $2 million investment, was added to the mix.
“Our family is very excited to bring the dream of redeveloping Pirate’s Cove into reality with the groundbreaking of Legacy Corner,” a new section of the park where the rides will be featured, Steve Gentile, president of Adventureland, said in the news release.
“We are thrilled to kick off this five-year project with Moon Chaser, which I’m sure will be an amazing addition to Adventureland and fan favorite for the people of Long Island,” Gentile added.
The company also expects increased foot traffic to the park, and to bring a 10% increase to its employee roster. Currently the company employs 650 part-time team members.
Catholic Health is sponsoring the park’s main entrance and city hall building, now known as the Catholic Health Wellness Center. The center offers first aid, but also houses guest relations and a lost-and-found. A blue line throughout the park is designed to direct visitors to the wellness center.
Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy, president and CEO of Catholic Health, said in the news release that “Catholic Health is “pleased to serve as lead sponsor for Adventureland.”
He added that with “deep roots in Long Island and an ongoing history of partnering with the communities it serves, we’re thrilled to do our part to ensure that the communities of Long Island will always have opportunities to make lasting memories in a family-friendly environment. Adventureland is all about bringing families and friends together, and so is Catholic Health.”
The healthcare system will have a presence in the park during family-friendly events such as the “Egg Scramble” and “Pumpkin Park’” It will also feature a variety of health-focused educational programs for park guests throughout the season.
Legacy Court will also be home to new concession stands, restrooms and other amenities.
The park also announced the retirement several of its older rides, including “Log Flume,” “Pirate Ship and “Spinning Cars.”
The opening weekend of the 2024 season is March 23-24. The park will be open during weekends and holidays throughout the spring.
