Broadway National Group has received preliminarily approval for economic incentives from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency for renovations to its Hauppauge headquarters.
The $6 million project at 100 Davids Drive includes renovation of the first floor of the 65,500-square-foot building to create office space to support the company’s growing technology business, according to an IDA statement.
The renovations will also include building out an employee training area, shared work spaces, and a kitchen and lunch area. The project also includes 75,550 square feet of new surface parking.
Broadway National is a family-owned and operated property management, construction and technology company. Founded in 1989 in the garage of CEO William Paparella, the business has grown from a neon lights fabrication shop into a mobile and cloud-based multi-site property management company servicing Fortune 500 clientele.
This is the company’s second bite of the apple for Suffolk IDA benefits. In 2017, Broadway National received incentives from the IDA for a more than $10.8 million project to purchase and renovate the property at 100 Davids Drive. At the time, the company had 101 employees and was expected to create 50 new jobs with the IDA’s assistance and it has since grown to 236 employees. Upon the new project’s completion, Broadway National pledged to grow its workforce again by adding 70 more full-time positions with an average annual salary of $64,000.
“The IDA is pleased to provide support to Broadway National,” Tony Catapano, executive director of the Suffolk IDA, said in the statement. “As its company name implies, Broadway National has customers and facilities nationwide and could be serving its customers from anywhere, but they continue to call Suffolk County home. This assistance will allow a growing business that has been based in the county for more than three decades, the ability to stay and continue expanding both in size and workforce here in Hauppauge.”
Besides the promised job creation, Broadway National spent more than $2.7 million with Long-Island-based vendors last year, an amount expected to increase with the completion of its latest project.
“Broadway National is the type of company that we get really excited about,” Kelly Murphy, deputy executive director of the Suffolk IDA, said in the statement. “They are a homegrown business that has continued to expand while remaining committed to their roots here in Suffolk. They have shattered their employment commitments in the past so we are excited to see what this next wave of investment into their facility brings to them and our region.”
