Why Does Daniel Warn Phyllis About Cane?

What does Daniel say to Phyllis about Cane on The Young and the Restless?

In the latest episode of The Young and the Restless, Daniel warns his mother, Phyllis, about her business venture with Cane.

When Daniel plays his guitar in the park, Phyllis comes up to sit with him, and the pair gets to chatting. At one point in the conversation, Daniel asks how her business deal with Cane is going. However, Phyllis refuses to answer, leading Cane to become more suspicious. He reveals his qualms about the Cane’s plan and says that it is too vague to amount to anything.

Even though she is sworn to secrecy, Phyllis ends up spilling Cane’s plans to Daniel to put his mind at ease. She reveals that Cane is planning on taking over every company in Genoa City, and he wants her by his side. Still unconvinced, Daniel warns her mother to stay away from Cane before it’s too late.

Phyllis states that Cane will execute his plan with or without her, to which Daniel retorts by reminding her of all the lives at stake, including that of Summer. The pair continues to argue, with Daniel urging his mother to reconsider. While he avidly states that Cane Ashby cannot be trusted, Phyllis says that Cane’s plan paves the way for a brighter future.

The argument escalates to a point where Phyllis begins to cry. She then continues to defend her decision to stick with Cane. Daniel refuses to back down as well, vehemently opposing his mother’s involvement in Cane’s business. He constantly reminds Phyllis that Cane’s plan will not succeed and will put her life in jeopardy. “There is no way that Cane can pull this off,” he yells at her, before the scene ends in tension.
