Netflix subscribers are once again about to see a price increase in their monthly bill.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Netflix announced that it will be raising the prices in the United States on the Standard, ad-supported, and Premium tiers.
What are the next prices of Netflix’s Standard, ad-supported, & Premium Tiers?
Per Variety, the ad-supported tier will cost $7.99 per month, which is up $1 dollar from the current $6.99 price. The Premium tier, which allows four simultaneous streams, is increasing by $2 from $22.99 per month to $24.99 per month.
The Standard plan without ads, meanwhile, is rising by $2.50, as it is going from $15.49 per month to $17.99 per month.
“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix,” the company said in its quarterly letter to investors. “To that end, we are adjusting prices today across most plans in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and Argentina (which was already factored into the 2025 guidance we provided in October 2024).
“…We’re on track to reach sufficient scale for ads members in all of our ads countries in 2025. A top priority in 2025 is to improve our offering for advertisers so that we can substantially grow our advertising revenue”
The announcement comes as Netflix also announces its “biggest-ever quarterly increase in subscribers with a gain of 18.9 million” in Q4 2024.
The streaming service has also raised its 2025 outlook for revenue “between $43.5 billion and $44.5 billion,” which is a $500 million increase from previous predictions.
“Netflix reaffirms its leadership position and is absolutely running away in the streaming market,” said PP Foresight founder and analyst Paolo Pescatore. “It is now flexing its muscles by adjusting prices given its far stronger and diversified programming slate compared to rivals.”
