Following the release of ‘Pennywise: The Story of IT’ and ‘Living With Chucky’, it now appears that ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ is the next film to receive the documentary treatment.
‘The Legacy of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,’ which premieres at this year’s Fantastic Fest, is an original film by director Philipp Escott that will delve into the impact Tobe Hooper’s original ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ had on an entire generation and the legacy that Hooper’s vision has continued to have on the horror community.

The documentary examines how director Tobe Hooper took a big swing when he brough his vision to the screen and how this one film managed to redefine the horror genre.
The film features testimonies from those who have continued to carry on the legacy of Leatherface, including 2022’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ producer Fede Alvarez, ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’ writers Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan, 2003’s ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ director Marcus Nispel, and ‘Leatherface’ directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.
‘The Legacy of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ also features interviews with legendary horror writer Mick Garris, ‘Valentine’ director Jamie Blanks, ‘Host’ director Adam Savage, ‘The Stylist’ writer and director Jill Gevargizian, Editor-in-Chief of Fangoria Phil Nobile Jr., as well as many more.
An early review from Fantastic Fest details how Escott’s documentary “takes a closer look at the different characters, their psychology, and their shifting roles in the narrative, but he also focuses on the allegories, the depth of the Sawyer family, and shines a spotlight on one of horror’s most iconic killers.”
This years Fantastic Fest will be held between September 22-29 in Austin, Texas.
There are currently no scheduled screenings for the film.
