Mount Sinai South Nassau has opened a walk-in primary care center at B2K’s mixed-use development in Long Beach.
The new 2,357-square-foot clinic is the first commercial tenant to open at the $369 million waterfront complex from Jericho-based B2K Development and its partner Harrison Street Real Estate Capital. YogaSix recently leased 2,077 square feet at the development for its soon-to-open fitness studio.
Mount Sinai South Nassau relocated its primary care practice formerly at 325 Park Ave. to the new development located between Long Beach Boulevard and Riverside Boulevard.
The walk-in, no-appointment-needed or by appointment full-service primary care practice began officially seeing patients last month. The site provides preventive and diagnostic services, including physicals, acute care for injuries and illnesses, management of chronic disease and vaccinations and immunizations.
“Serving the medical needs of Long Beach residents remains a key priority for Mount Sinai South Nassau and this new location reflects our continuing effort to keep our promise to the city and to our patients on the barrier island,” Adhi Sharma, president of Mount Sinai South Nassau, said in a written statement. “We remain committed to offering residents the services they need, from emergency care to cardiology to GI and other specialty services, and now a walk-in primary care center, close to home.”
Staff at the new walk-in center will be able to refer patients to Mount Sinai specialists on the barrier island, including at the Mount Sinai Doctors multispecialty center on the grounds of the former Long Beach Medical Center, as well as to the larger Mount Sinai Doctors network of medical experts across Long Island, according to the statement.
“Mount Sinai South Nassau is committed to identifying and advancing opportunities to provide healthcare services and programs that the community needs and deserves,” Anthony Cancellieri, chair of Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Advisory Board, said in the statement. “This practice is part of our ongoing effort to fulfill that commitment.”
The new clinic on the Boardwalk is staffed by Dr. Haran Ratna, an internal medicine and primary care physician who previously practiced at 325 West Park Ave., and Rima Patel, NP, in addition to medical assistants and other support personnel. The practice, which accepts most health insurance plans, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
B2K principals said the opening of the Mount Sinai South Nassau clinic “reflects our commitment to the Long Beach community that our new Boardwalk and Breeze developments would include benefits to the public that would enhance the city’s quality of life.”
The new B2K development includes the Boardwalk condos, 192 residences in two nine-story towers, and a 10-story, 238-unit rental building called The Breeze, which began welcoming its first tenants in February.
Mount Sinai South Nassau has invested $47.6 million in the barrier island since Long Beach Medical Center closed after Hurricane Sandy, according to the statement. The Primary Care Walk-In Center is complemented by Mount Sinai Doctors-Long Beach, a multispecialty medical arts pavilion at 440 East Bay Drive; Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Long Beach Emergency Department at 325 East Bay Drive, and Mount Sinai South Nassau-Long Beach, Primary Care at 761 Franklin Blvd.
