Kristen Doute questioned Erin Foster‘s support for women after her latest comments about the reality star’s engagement to Luke Broderick.
“So my gripe is a little gripe because I’m not actually mad. I’m not actually upset,” Doute, 41, told Brittany Cartwright on the Saturday, October 12, episode of her “Balancing Act” podcast. “But I get this Google alert, and it’s that Erin Foster had said something about my relationship with Luke and about my engagement.”
Doute noted she was a fan of Foster, 42, in the past, adding, “I used to love her podcast. I haven’t really listened to it lately, but I love her.”
The Valley star’s opinion has since changed after hearing Foster weigh in on her relationship with Broderick. Foster was asked on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen earlier this month whether she thought Doute and Broderick were a “good match” following their engagement.
“I don’t love it. I also get really stressed out when they go to the apartment and there’s so many dogs and it is such a small space,” Foster admitted. “They are always doing something really dirty.”
Foster said she “would really like an overhaul” for Doute and Broderick. Doute wasn’t thrilled by the suggestion.
“The reasons that she listed were a small apartment, too many dogs and something about how we always like getting dirty,” Doute told Cartwright, 35, on Saturday. “Not everyone lives in a mansion right away. We lived in an apartment and it was like a nice apartment.”
The Bravo star didn’t understand how her and Broderick’s living situation meant their relationship wasn’t a good fit.
“Luke and I are actually really great together and [it’s a testament to our relationship that] we could stand each other to live in that apartment together. Especially Luke when he’s used to having nothing but 70 acres of land,” she continued. “It’s a gripe because it didn’t make me mad, but I don’t know why I cared. Why do I care enough to say it on this podcast?”
Doute fired back at Foster, adding, “It bothered me because I’m like, ‘Before your husband [Simon Tikhman], you were [all about] women empowerment and a girl’s girl.’ You were talking about kissing all these frogs before you found your prince and going through dating before you actually met your husband.”
After watching the WWHL segment, Doute wished Foster chose to “lie” instead.
“If you don’t have anything to say, don’t say anything at all,” she continued. “She didn’t have to go into the details of why she thinks we need an overhaul. Just be like,’I don’t know’ or be like, ‘Yeah, that’s great’ and move on.’”
Us Weekly exclusively broke the news in September that Doute and Broderick got engaged after two years of dating while filming season 2 of The Valley.
“It was a total surprise,” Doute told Us. “I knew from the moment we met that Luke was my person. I am so excited to continue this journey together, now as fiancés.”
That same month, Doute and Broderick revealed they weren’t in a rush to walk down the aisle as they focus on their plans to become parents.
“With our timeline, we should have a baby first and then start planning after that,” Broderick said on their podcast at the time. “I know that ladies like to be feeling really good in their wedding dress. After you have a baby, we will start planning for a year after that.”
