Private payrolls: ADP’s employment report for September will provide insights into the labour market in advance of official government data on Friday. Private payrolls are forecast to have added 120,000 jobs, according to a Reuters survey of economists, up from August’s 99,000.
Kamala Harris: The vice-president will travel to the state of Georgia, where she will take stock of the damage wreaked by Hurricane Helene, and provide updates on federal government initiatives to provide an emergency response.
Companies: Foodmaker ConAgra, known for brands including Birds Eye frozen foods and Reddi-wip, will report first-quarter results before the opening bell. Jeans maker Levi Strauss is expected to post third-quarter revenues of $1.55bn after market close, a 2.6 per cent increase from the same period last year.
Fedspeak: Multiple Federal Reserve officials are lined up to speak at events today, including Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland president Beth Hammack, who will deliver introductory comments at the 2024 Minorities in Banking Forum.
