Patients at Patchogue-based Long Island Community Hospital now have interactive, digital tablets that are designed to enhance their experience during hospital stays.
Through the “MyWall” digital tablet system, patients can see who is on their healthcare team, view their estimated discharge dates, review educational courses assigned to them, order meals, log into their patient portal to view lab results and schedule future appointments. They can also watch television shows, receive video calls from clinicians and make outgoing calls.
“MyWall is a big step forward in providing patients with leading-edge technology through the duration of their stay,” Dr. Marc Adler, senior vice president and chief of hospital operations, said in a news release about the tablet.
“By offering them a wide range of information and services right at their fingertips, we continue to progress toward our goal of achieving excellence in patient experience and overall quality of care as we near our merger with NYU Langone,” Adler said.
The initiative comes at a time ahead of Long Island Community Hospital’s merger with NYU Langone, slated for next year.
NYU Langone Health, the active parent of Long Island Community Hospital, has installed nearly 2,000 MyWall units at its hospitals throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island.
