The Town of Hempstead job fair, featuring more than 80 businesses and as many as 1,500 applicants, is set for Thursday, Sept. 19, at 130 East Merrick Road in Freeport.
This year’s event, organized by HempsteadWorks, will use a timed entry method, although walk-ins will be accepted and directed to sign up for a time slot. While veterans can enter at 9:30 a.m., entry to the public will begin at 10 a.m. The job fair will run until 3:30 p.m.
Employers attending the event are required to have vacancies to fill, and none of them will be commission-only jobs, according to a spokesperson for the event. The job fair will also feature virtual reality goggles that enable potential applicants to see what the job entails.
Job opportunities include positions in healthcare, finance, manufacturing, education, law enforcement, nonprofit, civil service, telecommunications and more.
Long Island Cares, Kedrion Biopharma, MTA-LIRR and New York Life Insurance Company are just some of the employers expected to attend.
Hempstead Works offers job seekers with resources for career planning and counseling, vocational training programs for careers in high-demand industries, career and computer skills workshops, online job banks, referrals to partner agencies and access to computers, copiers and career development literature.
Town residents who want to attend can register here.
