United Way Project Warmth supported via National Grid grant
This past winter, National Grid provided a $500,000 grant to United Way of Long Island’s Project Warmth Emergency Fuel Fund. As a result, more than1,900 households were assisted with heating emergencies.
As this is the only nongovernmental emergency heating fund on the Island, Project Warmth helps both individuals and families who are challenged by energy insecurity. The fuel-neutral program also aids some of the region’s most vulnerable residents who might not otherwise qualify for government assistance such as seniors, veterans and families with young children.
