Former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano’s motion for bail pending appeal has been denied.
The U.S. Court of Appeals issued its ruling Tuesday afternoon.
Mangano was ordered to surrender immediately. He is designated to Devens, a federal corrections facility, in Massachusetts.
A jury had found Ed Mangano and his wife Linda Mangano guilty of corruption charges in exchange for expensive gifts in 2019 at the federal courthouse in Central Islip.
Prosecutors said Ed Mangano had helped Long Island restaurateur Harendra Singh obtain guaranteed loans in exchange for lavish gifts.
They said Linda Mangano was given a $100,000-a-year, no-show job at one of Singh’s restaurants.
The jury had found Ed Mangano guilty of multiple counts of accepting bribes and kickbacks in exchange for official government action, and for conspiracy to obstruct justice.
Linda Mangano was found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct justice, obstruction of justice and making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents about her employment by Singh. With her request for bail denied, she began her 15-month sentence last week.
